1979: The best year ever for one hit wonders « Caulk is cheap

A rocker steps out of his genre (if not his makeup) and still kicks ass:

An amphibian hits the charts:

and stating the obvious makes for a great ass shaking:

That’s just the beginning. 1979 is also the year of Pop Muzik, Knock on Wood, Ring My Bell and Video Killed the Radio Star. What a way to end a decade.

Those are great one-hit wonder tunes, to be sure. But 1997 was pretty awesome, too. Couple of those groups were technically “two-hit” wonders, like Smashmouth (walkin’ on the sun and All-star), but you had to love Chumbawumba. Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. and of course, Mmmm Bop by Hanson.

Hey Dave, don’t forget White Town! Love that song.

And Patrick, I take it you’re not a fan of my music selections (I love Yaz, btw).

Love that little thread of “wee-dee dee-wee-dee” or, whatever, going through that White Town song.

That’s a sample from this tune (really retro).

I’m just not a bog fan of the 70s. Yuck.

So you did like that Kermit song…

  8. PatrickP Says:

Does he sing in a bog or something?

  9. John in IL Says:

    Frogs like bogs.
